Michael WinterbottomMichael Winterbottom

Michael Winterbottom’s films represent the most striking and varied body of work of any British director to emerge from the late 20th century, and we’re delighted to represent him here at 2AM for commercials.

In partnership with Andrew Eaton, Michael formed Revolution Films in 1994. Their first cinema feature, the arresting ‘Butterfly Kiss’, emerged in ’95 and was quickly followed by ‘Jude’, which contains a mesmerising performance from Kate Winslet. And then the shocking ‘Welcome to Sarajevo’ in ’97.

From this period onwards, Michael has created a dizzying output of idiosyncratic and innovative British films, establishing him with an enviable international reputation. Milla Jovovich starred in ‘The Claim’, an adaptation of Hardy’s ‘The Mayor of Casterbridge’, the populist ‘24 Hour Party People’ starring Steve Coogan was followed by the BAFTA winning ‘In This World’ in 2002.

Recent films includes the risk-taking ‘9 Songs’, the immediately enjoyable ‘A Cock and Bull Story’, the documentary-like realism of ‘The Road to Guantanamo’, ‘A Mighty Heart’ with Angelina Jolie, ‘Genova’ with Colin Firth, ‘The Killer Inside Me’, starring Casey Affleck and Kate Hudson, and most recently, a reuniting with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon for a road-trip comedy ‘The Trip’.

'Trishna', with Frieda Pinto and Riz Ahmed, premiered at The Toronto Film Festival this autumn and is Michaels third Thomas Hardy interpretation, having re-thought Tess of the D'urbervilles in modern India. And as diverse as ever, he is in pre-production on a Jack Black comedy, 'Bailout'.
