Jason’s Towpath Cafe serves food that is “a lesson in taste and restraint”, (Timeout). A recent joint venture with his wife, food writer Lori De Mori, the open fronted cafe excels in casual culinary delights and has been a major success in its opening year. Towpath Cafe acts as the current incarnation of the ‘food world’ that Jason inhabits; a far cry from being a mere photographer of food.

It’s in this passion for a varied culinary life which results in a true understanding of the food and the place behind each image. Cafe owner, regular at farmer’s markets such as Borough Market in London, maintaining close associations within the food world and working with some of the finest food producers and most inspirational chefs, Jason is a gastronomic authority. He’s been awarded two Glenfiddich awards, maintains advertising contracts with Birds Eye, Marks and Spencer, Pizza Hut and Sainsbury’s, and regularly shoots for Food and Travel, Food Illustrated and Saveur magazines.

There is not much that Jason Lowe hasn’t eaten or shot and his empathy with ingredients, locations and food makes him a favourite with talented chefs: Claudia Roden, Gennaro Contaldo and Fergus Henderson to name a mere three. Fergus Henderson’s legendary ‘Nose To Tail’ books were recently re-launched with Jason’s sumptuous imagery.

Jason shares a regular column with Mark Hix in The Independent, the two having formed a close working partnership whilst working together on easily half a dozen books. HIX Oyster & Chop House, which Jason shot is their latest publication.

With representation at 2AM Jason has made a recent transition into moving image. Jason directed a commercial starring Ravinder Bhogal, winner of ‘The F word’s’ “Search for the new Fanny Craddock”, and followed this with two commercials for Busaba Eathai, Alan Yau’s Thai restaurant chain which were both shot on location in Thailand.
