Achim Lippoth is a renowned photographer and filmmaker from Cologne but educated in Manchester. Working as a freelance photographer since 1992, Achim is a specialist in, and exclusively shoots, images and films of children. In Lippoth’s work we see children as the heroes and protagonists, often where adults sink into the mere background. It is the exploration of all facets of childhood which fascinates Lippoth, the sentiments and difficulties that children meet throughout their transitional ages; innocence, discipline, conformity, friendship, levity, despair, awareness, consumerism, camaraderie, desperation and lots of tomfoolery.

Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, DDB Worldwide, Grey Worldwide, Jung von Matt and Leo Burnett Worldwide have all commissioned Achim. His photographic work has been published in Blackbook, New York Times Magazine, Details, Stern, Vogue Italia and Vogue Nippon. Audi, AOL, Lego, McDonalds, American Eagle, Lexus and Lufthansa are among his customer base.

In 1995 he began publishing the children’s fashion magazine Kid’s Wear, Bruce Weber calls this “the most beautiful magazine in the world”. Kid’s Wear features Achim’s work as well as photography by Nan Goldin, Shelby Lee Adams, Jessica Craig-Martin, Takashi Homma, Anton Corbijn, Martin Parr, Manuela Pavesi, Lise Sarfati and Weber himself.

Nothing is ever left to chance in Lippoth’s work. Masterly stage managed, and drawing heavily from art and photographic history, the reality created within the frame is sharply focused and theatrically arranged. “You can see that even in their young age they’ve already gathered many life experiences which influence their whole personality.”

For 2AM, Achim’s an exciting new signing, and we’re looking forward to producing fresh and dynamic kids commercials together.
